The claims that NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore were "abandoned" or "stuck" during their extended mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) have been addressed and refuted. Their stay was extended due to technical issues with Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, which delayed their initial brief mission. Despite these challenges, both astronauts have emphasized that they never felt stranded or neglected. "We don't feel abandoned," Wilmore said. We don't feel stuck. We do not feel stuck. Williams emphasized their preparedness for unforeseen circumstances, noting that problems are an inherent part of space missions. "We knew that we would probably find some things [that were wrong with Starliner], and we found some things, so that was not a surprise," she remarked. Both astronauts have stated that they trust Boeing's Starliner and are willing to fly it again with the goal of improving future missions. In addition, they have emphasized their dedication to the goals of their mission and the significance of human spaceflight, distancing themselves from the political narratives that surround their mission. On March 18, 2025, a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule safely brought them back to Earth. They were celebrated upon their return and praised for their perseverance throughout the extended mission.

*Sunita:* (grinning) *"Thank you! It’s surreal—gravity is both a relief and a challenge. Simple things like walking or holding a coffee cup feel oddly new again. But nothing beats hugging my family and dog!"*

*Butch:* *"It’s humbling. Space makes you appreciate Earth’s beauty and complexity. The first sunset I saw after landing? Breathtaking. You don’t realize how much you miss colors and horizons until you’re back."*
