During a NASA post-flight news conference on March 31, the two astronauts and Crew-9 commander Nick Hague responded to questions. After more than nine months in space, this was their first news conference on Earth. Both astronauts stated that they would fly again on the Starliner and accepted some responsibility for the mission's mishaps.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, two astronauts from NASA, recently completed a lengthy nine-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), during which they evaluated the Starliner spacecraft manufactured by Boeing. Both astronauts have expressed confidence in the Starliner's future and expressed their willingness to fly it again, despite encountering technical issues such as helium leaks and malfunctioning thrusters that extended their mission. NASA is actively addressing these technical difficulties together with Boeing. The propulsion system of Starliner will be ground-tested this summer, and before returning to crewed missions in early 2026, it may be possible to conduct an uncrewed test flight. For Starliner to compete with SpaceX's Crew Dragon on NASA missions, it is essential that these issues be resolved successfully to ensure a variety of crewed spaceflight options.
