OVERVIEW OF MYANMAR EARTHQUAKE
On March 28, 2025, a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar near Mandalay, causing widespread devastation. The disaster has resulted in at least 1,700 fatalities, over 3,400 injuries, and approximately 300 individuals reported missing.The quake's impact extended beyond Myanmar, affecting neighboring countries. In Bangkok, Thailand, the collapse of an under-construction building led to 17 deaths, 32 injuries, and 83 people missing.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with international aid arriving from countries including China, India, Russia, Thailand, and Singapore. These efforts are challenged by damaged infrastructure and ongoing conflicts within Myanmar.The situation remains critical as aftershocks continue and rescue teams work tirelessly to locate survivors amid the rubble.
